The splendour that was Trentham Hall, the Staffordshire seat of the Dukes of Sutherland - a magnificent Victorian,
Italian-style house, built around 1840. it was used as a residence by the family until 1905 and demolished in 1912. If it had survived it would have been one of England's truly
great houses.
